Appalachian Trail Presentation

Roads Rivers and Trails
118 Main St, Milford, Ohio 45150

William Babb, an 18 year old Cincinnati native, recently completed his thru hike of the Appalachian Trail on October 11. The “AT” spans 2,189 miles across the Appalachian mountain range from Georgia to Maine. Come hear William share stories and pictures from his hike and learn what goes into planning for and completing a five month journey. Whether you are planning an AT thru hike, a section hike, or just want to hear some great trail talk, this is not a presentation to be missed!

Long Trail/Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail and the Long Trail coincide together for approximately 105 miles in the state of Vermont.  While “Leapfrog” was hiking northbound on the AT…I was on the Long Trail hiking in the opposite direction, southbound.  We both had stopped at the Little Rock Pond Shelter for the night and struck up a conversation.  Once we found out that we both resided in the state of Ohio and so close…Dayton and Cincinnati…and knew similar people and places…we talked till dark!

I met “Leapfrog” on Sunday, September 4th.  Where I only had a few more days before I completed my thru hike of the Long Trail…William was just one day shy of the “500” mile mark (meaning only 500 miles to Mt Katadhin) before his completion.  These 500 miles would take him  only 37 days to accomplish…which on average would be approximately 14 miles per day.  He had yet to climb Mt Washington and hike through the White Mountains.  He knew what he was up against and was determined!  Once he told me that the Roads Rivers & Trails Outfitter store in Milford, Ohio wanted him to do an AT presentation…I knew it was something I did not want to miss.

Join me for the evening!
